Dr. Shannon Mortrud, Assistant Principal at Fargo South High School, has been honored as the North Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP). This prestigious award recognizes her exceptional contributions to education and her commitment to fostering student success.
Dr. Mortrud began her career in 2009 as a School Psychologist with the Paul Bunyan Education Cooperative before joining Fargo Public Schools, where she served as a School Psychologist across five buildings. From 2013 to 2019, she worked at West Fargo High School as the MTSS Coach, where she developed academic and social-emotional support systems grounded in data and research. In 2018, she joined Fargo South High School as Assistant Principal, becoming an integral part of the Bruin community.
Dr. Mortrud holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota, a specialist and master’s degree in School Psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota.
